SALINA BOWMEN HISTORICAL NOTES

Here is a short summary of the Salina Bowmen’s past:

The Salina Bowmen Archery Club was first organized forty three years ago in February 1961. The Club’s first bow range was on land leased from the George Will farm on Mulberry Creek, about five miles west of Salina. This range was quickly damaged by flood.

In June 1961, the range was moved to a 28 acre lease at Camp Webster, just north of Salina on the Saline River.

The range was moved again in March 1963 to a leased wooded area on the north side of the Smoky Hill River, about three miles east of Salina.

In March 1971, the Salina Bowmen purchased the land of the present bow range, a 30 acre wooded site about a mile southeast of Niles, in Ottawa County. This land parcel is described as: N 30 Acres SE1/4 SW1/4 Sec 32 T12S R1W, Ottawa County, KS.
